hot stuff, what is up all my naughty listeners, I'm so happy to be back. Sorry, I apologize for leaving you. But I did let you know ahead of time. If you're following along, you'll know that I got called last minute I was on standby for a military tour. Basically, me and other fighters we go overseas to different bases, Air Force, you know, whatever it is, to different countries, and we put on seminars, and it's just to boost morale, you know, kind of bring home, bring over a piece of home to kind of make what they're going through. Not so bad. And I love doing it. This was my fourth Tour. Tour sounds like I'm going to war or something. But this was the column. So it's my fourth tour. I went to Cuba. No, first we went to Greenland. And I had been there before cold as balls. This time, it was actually negative six degrees. Last time I was there, it was negative it was 40 degrees. So the difference between 40 degrees and negative six, I had gloves on, I had two pairs of gloves on cloth gloves and leather gloves. And I couldn't even take a video without my fingertips feeling like they they were going to freeze off. Like that's how cold it was there. spent two days there flew immediately to Cuba. Sorry, Honduras was first and spent a few days in Honduras. And I love Honduras. The weather is amazing. But it was so heartbreaking to see this just poverty level. You know, I thought I'd seen poverty here, you know, homeless and all that. I saw babies Holding Babies asking for money and it broke my heart. And I'd never seen that before. I know. It's out there, you know, seen on television, but it was a first for me. And let's just say I came home with, you know, a lot of appreciation and gratitude for what we have here. I always have but even more so now. And I loved that base. It was a Soto Cano Air Force Base in Honduras. Great people great, you know, a great time there. And we went immediately to Cuba. And Cuba was was really great, too, a little bit more muggy weather. We actually were in Guantanamo Bay. And yeah, I didn't know what to expect. You just hear about the prison and the you know, scary tales and all that and you know what they did and I had a great time you know, not everyone that goes to Guantanamo Bay has a great time but you know, obviously we didn't get to see the prison or anything like that. But we put on the seminar me and Sam Alvey we had an amazing time. He's just the jolliest motherfucker you're ever going to meet. He's got like a billion kids, a hot model wife. And, you know, you know what, why else would he you know, be sad. He's living the life. And yeah, we just traveled all over. Had a great time. He usually brings his ukulele but I guess he left it at home this time. And we were supposed to be on the trip with a few other fighters. But unfortunately, some fighters got COVID. And some other fighters were fighting the previous weekend and they got injured. So it didn't happen. But I think me and Sam held it down. Like to joke I'm like, Oh, we were the B team. But we are not the bat. I just joke around. But yeah, it was a great trip, guys. Thank you so much for sticking with me. I know. It seems like every time I kind of get some momentum with these episodes, a guest will pull out or I'll leave on a trip. But I promise I promise you're not going to miss another episode. I'm not gonna miss another episode for quite some time now. And I've got some good news as far as my injury goes. For those of you who follow along every week, you know, I'm dealing with my spine surgery back in December. So it's almost an entire year now. Or a month away from me or less than a month away from a year since I got that surgery. And I've also had some knee issues yesterday. I got some PRP injections in my knee. Apex Chiropractic in Long Beach hooked it up. Shout out to those guys. Amazing. And then next Monday. So this coming Monday I will be on my way to Las Vegas. The UFC is going to fly me out there and get some imaging done. And just help me out with the last stage of this, you know, recovery process. It's, I've got some lingering pain, and they're just going to take care of me. I'll let you guys know how it goes, you know, hopefully I go out there and get checked out, get some procedures done, and I'm back in the cage, we'll back to the training room. By the end of January, like fuck, please, please, guys, please cross your fingers. For me. I feel like I've got a plan. You know, there's things in motion medically that are gonna happen. I don't want to get myself a timeline, you know, a hard timeline? Because, fuck look, if this, you know, last two years has showed us anything, it's that you never know what's gonna fucking happen. So I just want to tell myself, so I can kind of be hopeful that I'm gonna be in the cage, mid 2022. But who fucking knows? I'll keep you guys updated. And yeah, there's no fights this weekend, I was going to talk about the fights. But this is like the one weekend in forever, where they haven't had some fights. Alright, so I was supposed to be fighting on December 4. Unfortunately, I've had to have an opponent change, which happens, you know, just sucks to happen. So like close to the fight and like, right before the holidays, but we're hopeful my fingers are crossed. They're looking for somebody new for me. I'm supposed to fight for gladiator challenge down in Southern California. And like a week, and yeah, we're just staying hopeful, staying focused and hoping that this one comes through. I've had a few fights pull out this year. So I was really looking forward to this one.

Honestly, I don't know. Like I really don't know. I think that it's definitely like your mind like your mind is your greatest weapon and your worst enemy. So depending on your mental toughness, I think that depends on how much ring Russ lives and doesn't live. Like if you really believe regressed is a thing then you might start off a little slow but if you're just like, whatever I've been fighting in the gym every day for the last two years like let's go like I don't think Greengrass will be a problem but we'll see you know, I'm gonna eventually make that break and we'll see if bring Ross is true or not.

You know, I mean, I know it's a corny question, but you know, I follow you on social media and, you know, throughout the pandemic, I've kept up with you and you are really positive and You know, it might get hard sometimes, but what are some things that you do to, you know, just kind of reassure yourself like it's gonna happen and, you know, a lot of people, they don't stay positive and they throw in the towel, they give up fighting, they, you know, choose another profession, like what do you do to help you continue on this not so easy path, you know, to be in a fighter?

Well, I'm definitely like, being positive is definitely hard for me, like, I'm a super emotional person. And sometimes my emotions get the best of me. So I have like a super good support system and like my coach Kyrian like, he didn't baby me, he don't hold my hand, he keeps it like real with me. 100% whether I want to hear it, like to hear it or don't, you know, and sometimes we get into these discussions where he's just like, No kid, like, You're wrong, and you need to, you know, like, go back to the drawing board and just kind of rethink a little bit. And that's what just helps me like, stay like in it, you know, it's like, man, he's right. You know, like, I'm just mind fucking myself. Or I'm overs enemy again. Or I'm just like, resulting to like, old behaviors that just keeps me like wanting to grow as a person. Because I know I have so much room to still grow. And, yeah, so honestly, my support system and the people around me is what keeps me just fighting. And honestly, like, I have a lot of things to fight for my brother and my family. And I'm super stubborn. So quitting was has never been an option. Even when I went one and three and Bella tour. There was never a moment, maybe a split second where I was like, Alright, cool. I'm done. Like, I can't do this no more, but never like, like really have, I felt like I can't do this. Like, all I keep telling myself is I'm gonna do this again. And I'm going to get there and I'm going to get what I want. You know, I'm gonna get what what's mine and it's big. It's gold. It's shiny. It's heavy, and it's coming home one day.

So Coach carians the head coach over at combat sports academy, that's my home gym. I'm super, super fortunate. I get to train at three of the best gyms in Northern California. So CSA is my home gym. That's where you know bases. That's where I do most of my work all my striking, you know, my MMA, whatever all of it happens at CSA, but then we also have a nice SR gym connection going with El Nino. So Gilbert Melendez comes over to our gym a couple times a week teaches us and then coach carrion goes over there and then teaches them and so we just kind of have this nice little collab Gilbert Melendez is pretty much Gilbert Melendez and Adam pick allottee both have pretty much became my like head MMA coach, ball carrier, Coach carrion is my head head coach, like these are the two that are in charge of my MMA who I listened to the most. And then we got a nice thing going with alpha male, you know, the alpha male guys come down to combat sports academy and they get their striking in and we go up there, we get sparring in some of the guys do one on ones with the coaches out there go up there for the wrestling the strength and conditioning program. And it's just a nice little flow that coach carians built for us, you know, it's it's with him and his connections, and him just being such an open coach and like, you know what, I don't got all the answers for this problem. So let me send you to a specialist who does, you know, because I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like I know something I don't but I know for a fact that this guy's the best in the world. And I'm gonna let you guys go and experience that or I know for a fact that these guys are the best in the world. That's, that's the measure of a true coach who cares about you who won who can put his ego aside be humble enough to be like, just like you said, I am great in this aspect, but I'm you know, sure as hell not the best in every aspect of Mixed Martial Arts. You know, no one's gonna be a black belt level of striking, grappling, conditioning all of that so that's cool that he allows you to cross train or you know, or have multiple gyms that you do call home that's really great. It's literally the best in the world at each gym, you know, like sometimes I because I'm so used to it, but you know, like through this whole fight camp, I've been having these comedy mental conversations with Andre feely and you know, like to some people they'd be like, oh my god like Andre feely and I have. Like, I'm literally surrounded by the best in the world who are taking time out of their day to like, help me to be like a man like look, I've been doing this Long time, this is what I do. That's how I think, like, stay in it, you know, I literally have like, Andre Fili quotes all over my mirror right? Told me because a couple weeks ago, I was like, you know, like when you start to go through those mental waves of fight camp, you're like, oh shit about the fight again. Oh my god, like, this is crazy, like, what do I do you know, and so he just gave me some quotes and was like, hey, just like keep repeating these to yourself and like, like, just stay focused, like you can do this, you know, and, and that's that each gym that's not just an alpha male, I go over to El Nino and from Gilbert to all of the guys that coach there and teach there, you know, my boxing coach, Coach Escobar, like I'm learning from the best in the world, and I'm in such a great position. And I love it. I love where my team's at eye level we're all at and we're all flourishing. Like, we don't got the biggest team, but we've got a solid team. And yeah, we're all doing what we have to do.

I was born and raised in Hayward, California. I still pretty much live here. Now. I live in San Lorenzo, which is like five minutes from Hayward. But uh, yeah, you know, if you're from the Bay Area, obviously, some places are much much worse than others. Like I'm super grateful like My neighborhood was bad, but it wasn't like some of the other places out here. You know, everybody could have it much worse. But you know, it's rough. It's rough when you kind of grow up a little poor little little more on property you know, there's a lot of games where I'm from so a lot of drug use parents like all have addiction problems like it was just kind of a struggle. And and and I know like that's why I connect with people because he's from Sac and like out Aaron. Like it's the same you know, we all in some way kind of share similar story being from, like, the Bay Area, and yeah, it was rough. It was wasn't always the best, but we've made the best of it. And it's definitely shaped me to be the person I am today.

Yeah. I've been to SoCal a few times. You know, I've fought down there a few times go down there to visit and stuff. So yeah, I've never lived in SoCal, but I've definitely been down there a few times. It's a lot different. Like since the pandemic up here in northern California, like things are a lot different. For sure. It's not as dope as it used to be like, California is kind of in a weird place right now.

Uh, for me? Well, obviously, like prices have gone up, but like we've got a really bad homeless crisis going on right now. Like literally everywhere. Yeah, I know. I know. So cows don't do the same thing but it's like they keep jacking up prices and it just keeps pushing people lower and lower. And like obviously you guys watch the news so there's a lot of smashing grabbing happen right now like the crimes kind of went up you know, because I mean, I feel for it because a lot of people are not excusing anybody's actions, but a lot of people are in sticky situations. It's a hard time on everybody and some people don't know any other ways but to take what they need, you know, an amine or even if they don't need it, just take it because they can and it's it's fucked up that people are put in situations and this is how people kind of get by in their life. But, you know, some people have no other options and I things have just been crazy here lately like real crazy, crazier than normal,

for sure. And it sounds like when you were younger, you saw some crazy stuff too. For sure what was you know, kind of like the talk like, did anybody explain sex dating relationships? Love? You know, did you have that kind of guidance when you're younger?

No, not really. So like, I think like any kid, kind of, like I learned from my friends, like, my, my mom or my grandma never really gave me like the talk talk. You know? They kind of just let life teach me so my friends taught me and you know, you kind of learn just from different ways over my home girl. Like, we used to have like this big box of like, 80s porn, which means porn and talking crazy. And, and you know, I remember just watching this shit. Like, this isn't true. Like it's like shapes and like superhero caves. So it's like the worst like, props ever. Like just terrible. But yeah, mostly came from my friends, like, really lose their virginity till I was like 18 years old. So I was like a late bloomer. Like, all my friends were active, and I was just chilling, but I was also the youngest in the crew. So it was probably like, okay, that I was like, you know, not being too crazy.

I think I was, I've always been kind of a late bloomer. So and I've always had like, super, super self conscious, like, be like, super self conscious. And I've never really thought I was the prettiest. So like, I didn't, I don't think I really ever came out of my shell. Especially growing up like the the guy I was with that took my virginity, like we actually dated like, I wasn't just like, like, you know, like hooking up with people when I was young, like, I hated that dude for like, can you remember like he that was so long ago, like a year or something like that, you know? And I think he was just a late bloomer and I was like, plain Jane, I was super skinny, super tall. I definitely didn't have this aspect. I've definitely been like, I've always been super flat chested. So I think I was just kind of like in a shell. And my friends like that I grew up with a friend, right and her sister and her mom and they were a naked household like they were a naked family and I was never a naked person. So like, being this little like clothes person like my family didn't just walk around butt naked like that. And like it like being introduced to this like, very open, female dominant family like that. They taught me there. That's still my sister. To this day. Like, they're still like, my family forever. I still contact with them. But uh, yeah, I was like, wow, like, these are how people are just like naked everywhere. Mom, sister, like, like, don't even care just letting it live in. And it really taught me like, more confidence with myself, right? Like my friend Lacey used to tell me all the time, like, like, competent girl, like, it's cool. Like, we all got the same part. You know? And then be like, Oh my god.

It was three of us four girls with me there, you know, mom, sister, and then my best friend at the time. And then me I was like, the adopted family. So it was just a house full of chicks. I was like, It's definitely like a stupid decision and My mind cuz it's like what if something did happen? For what for fucking for esthetics, you know, dumbass but at the same time, like, you can't help but you want you know, like, you want to feel good. You want to feel feminine you want to feel whatever it is that's gonna make you feel.
